Il Film

On 2nd March 1970 the inhabitants of the quarter "Rione Terra" (the ancient center of the city Pozzuoli) were evacuated against their wills. The reason: earthquake. For twenty years the inhabitants have been waiting to return to their homes. In these twenty years facts occurred that had not occurred in many centuries. The acts of vandalism in the uninhabited quarter caused a greater damage than earthquake ever has.

Synopsis

The film follows a gang of youths who spend every day collecting scrap metal from derelict houses. They live in Pozzuoli, an old fishing village which has repeatedly been hit by earthquakes and where many houses are empty because of the lack of employment prospects. They demolish what had not yet been destroyed and sell the old Pozzuoli bit by bit for pocket money. The gang is in turn plundered by other gangs, a hopeless situation, living and surviving on the ruins. This is not the first time that Gaudino, one of the two makers, turned the camera on his own ruined birthplace.
